2020 Season Update and Refund Policy

News about the 2020 Beaverdale Little League season

UpdatedThursday May 14, 2020 byRob Shaw.

Beaverdale families -

You may have heard that Little League International canceled all 2020 World Series events for all age groups, including Regional Championships. While that announcement does not completely eliminate the possibility of a local post-season tournament, it does give us some much-needed scheduling flexibility, and more time to prepare for a return to regular-season baseball and softball in 2020.

Throughout the delay, the board has been preparing for the season and we’re still planning to resume play even if it means starting in June or possibly early July. What the schedule looks like will ultimately be driven by guidance from the State of Iowa and local health officials, but know that we are already preparing fields and facilities, and putting safety processes in place, so when we’re allowed to return to the park safely, we’ll be ready to go.

If you’re not able to play
While we hope all our kids can play, we understand that not everyone will be able to participate in a delayed season. For those families, we will be offering an 80% refund of the registration fee. The process for requesting a refund is below. For those unable to play there is also an option to donate your registration fee to the league if you’re able to do that.

The 20% being withheld is attached to expenses incurred before the season starts and that we can’t recoup. As a non-profit, we rely on registration fees to help us prepare our facilities and ensure we have enough baseball and safety equipment for the season. Registrations also help with fixed costs associated with insurance, utilities, general upkeep and maintenance for the park and its 12 fields. We also provide registration scholarships for kids who wouldn’t otherwise be able to play baseball or softball.

Refund process and reschedule questionnaire
To ensure we understand how you’d like to proceed, we’re asking all families to log in to their BLL account and fill out a reschedule questionnaire using the steps below. Please respond no later than May 24. If we don’t receive a response by May 24, we’ll assume you’re child will play in a delayed season and we’ll proceed accordingly.

Next steps
1) Visit the BLL Website

2) Select the “Registration Now Open” button at the top of the homepage.

3) Log in to your BLL account

4) Select “Register to Play/Participate”

5) Select the child you’re filling out the questionnaire for and click “Register Now”

6) Select “2020 RESCHEDULE QUESTIONNAIRE” and choose only one of the following:

  • Play ball! Please move my child to the season that will start in June. (Nothing additional is required from you.)
  • Can’t play, but want to donate: My child can’t play in a delayed season, but please accept my registration fee as a donation.
  • Can’t play, please process my refund: My child won’t be able to play in a delayed season. Please refund 80% of my registration fee.
(Fund raising cards are not factored into the 80% refund. Refunds will be applied by Sept. 2020)

7) Select “Register as a Player”

8) Repeat the process for each player registered in 2020

Thank you
Thanks as always for your support of BLL and our community. We know this has been a challenge for everyone and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we work to make the best decisions for our families and our league.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all soon!
