Temporary Little League Delay Extended to May 11

Beaverdale Families -

As you’re all aware, the coronavirus outbreak is changing rapidly and we’re all being asked to adjust for our own safety and the safety of our communities. With the recent guidance from the CDC recommending that no more than 10 people gather in public, Little League International is delaying the start of the little league season until May 11. Beaverdale Little League, along with all other leagues in District 5 and across the state, will comply with this guidance by closing fields for use until they can be safely reopened.

We realize this cuts into the heart of our little league season, but the safety of our kids and community is paramount for us, and we appreciate your patience as we work together to manage this situation. We fully intend to be playing ball in May and we’re working through details around what a late-start season will look like. We’ll keep you informed as we make decisions and have information to share.

Getting ready to play
We have most of our rosters set and will continue communicating with you about what to expect next. We'll also try to provide tips about working with your son or daughter so they're ready to play when the park reopens and the season begins. Like us, we’re sure they’re ready to get started and we’ll do our best to provide any information we can to help them prepare. You can also visit the Little League International site to find backyard and individual drills to help prepare for the season. And you can always go to a park to play catch, roll grounders, throw pop-ups and work off a tee, or play soft toss. These are all great skill-builders and easy ways to stay sharp until the season starts!

More to come
Keep an eye on your email for additional details and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook and Instagram. We also encourage you to stay informed by checking the Polk County Coronavirus Information page on a regular basis. Or, you can contact us directly with questions.

Finally, please know how grateful we are for our Beaverdale Little League community. We’re in this together and we appreciate your patience and willingness to work with us as we develop the best solutions for our season and our kids.

Thank you,

Your Beaverdale Little League Board
